Pac-Man and the Ghostly Adventures, known in Japan as Pac-World, [a] is an animated television series produced by 41 Entertainment, Arad Productions, a partnership between Sprite Animation Studios and OLM, Inc., and Bandai Namco Entertainment for Tokyo MX (stereo version), BS11 (stereo version) and Disney XD (bilingual version). The ghosts were created by Toru Iwatani, who was the head designer for the original Pac-Man arcade game. The idea for the ghosts was made from Iwatani's desire to create a video game that could attract women and younger players, particularly couples, at a time where most video games were "war"-type games or Space Invaders clones.

Players control Pac-Man as he must eat the items in an enclosed maze while avoiding four colored ghosts that pursue him. Pac-Man is assisted by a green-colored creature named Miru (also called Mil), the titular "Pal", who brings the items back to the center box. Pac-Man can also collect power-ups that allow him to briefly stun the ghosts.
Ghosts wander across the levels. If a ghost hits Pac-Man, it will have to be shooed off on the touchscreen; failing to do so will result Pac-Man gradually losing health until his life bar is fully depleted. Pac-Man loses a life if he falls off the course, or loses all his health. Power Pellets can be collected to allow Pac-Man to eat the ghosts.
