Harap Alb on a Romanian stamp "Harap Alb" or "Harap-Alb" (Romanian pronunciation: [haˈrap ˈalb]) is the protagonist as well as the title of a Romanian-language fairy tale by Ion Creangă, known in full as Povestea lui Harap Alb ("The Story of Harap Alb"). He is the youngest of three princes.
If I Were Harap Alb (Romanian: De-aș fi... Harap Alb) is a 1965 Romanian fantasy film directed by Ion Popescu-Gopo. It was entered into the 4th Moscow International Film Festival where Popescu-Gopo won the award for Best Director. [1] The film is based on the fairy tale The Story of Harap Alb by Romanian writer Ion Creangă.

In 1965, celebrated Romanian director Ion Popescu-Gopo released De-aș fi Harap Alb, a loose adaptation of "Harap Alb", starring Florin Piersic in the title role. Popescu-Gopo also directed the 1976 film Povestea dragostei , which was based on " The Story of the Pig " and the 1985 film "Ramasagul" which was based on "The Bag with 2 Coins".

Ion Creangă wrote personalized retellings of folkloric tales, [59] of which some of the best known are Povestea lui Harap Alb (1877), Păcală (1880), and Făt-Frumos fiul Iepei (1877). [60] Of further note are his autobiographical memoirs from Amintiri din copilarie. [61] [60]
