Blanchard Valley Hospital, the anchor subsidiary of BVHS, was founded in 1891 as the Findlay Home for Friendless Women and Children. Bluffton Hospital was founded in 1908 by Dr. J. J. Suter. The two hospitals merged in 1995 to create the Blanchard Valley Regional Health Center and later, the Blanchard Valley Health Association (BVHA).
The system consists of 15 hospitals, 200+ ambulatory sites, hospice, home health, medical equipment and other health services spanning 47 Ohio counties. [1] As of May 2020, the organization has 35,000 physicians, associates, and volunteers, with more than $4.3 billion in net revenue.
The Palo Alto Medical Foundation for Health Care, Research, and Education (PAMF) is a not-for-profit health care organization with medical offices in more than 15 cities in the Bay Area. It has more than 900 physicians and had over 2 million patient visits in 2008.
In 1921, Major Orr produced An Orthopedic Surgeon's Story of the Great War, an account detailing the preparation for, and providing Orthopaedic Services (including Nursing and Reconstruction Aides [4]) to circa 16,000-18,000 men between July 1918 and March 1919 at Savenay Hospital Center, American Base Hospital No.8 in France. During the 1880s, Findlay was a booming center of oil and natural gas production, though the supply of petroleum had dwindled by the early 20th century. Findlay hosted the highly competitive Ohio State Music Festival in 1884. A young cornet player, Warren G. Harding, and his Citizens' Cornet Band of Marion placed third in the competition. [13]
