Cessna (/ ˈ s ɛ s n ə / [4]) is an American brand of general aviation aircraft owned by Textron Aviation since 2014, headquartered in Wichita, Kansas.Originally, it was a brand of the Cessna Aircraft Company, an American general aviation aircraft manufacturing corporation also headquartered in Wichita.
The Cessna 188 is a family of light agricultural aircraft produced between 1966 and 1983 by the Cessna Aircraft Company. [ 1 ] [ 2 ] The various versions of the 188 included the AGwagon, AGpickup, AGtruck and AGhusky, along with the AGcarryall variant of the Cessna 185 Skywagon , and constituted Cessna's line of agricultural aircraft.
The aircraft was expensive to purchase and operate for private use and Cessna therefore marketed them mainly as a business aircraft under the name "Businessliner". [2] The engines fitted to the 190 and 195 became well known for their oil consumption. The aircraft has a 5-US-gallon (19 L) oil tank, with 2 US gallons (7.6 L) the minimum for flight.
The Cessna 140 was originally equipped with a Continental C-85-12 or C-85-12F horizontally opposed, air-cooled, four-cylinder piston engine of 85 hp (63 kW). The Continental C-90-12F or C-90-14F of 90 hp (67 kW) was optional, as was the 108 hp (81 kW) Lycoming O-235-C1 engine, an aftermarket installation authorized in the type certificate .

Following development of the four-seat Model A the company designed a six-seat aircraft, the Model CW-6. The aircraft first flew in November 1928, powered by a 220 hp (164 kW) Wright Whirlwind J-5 radial engine. The aircraft was displayed at the 1929 Auto Show in Wichita, Kansas. A scaled-down four-seat version, the Cessna DC-6, was also developed.
The first Cessna design built in any numbers was the Cessna Model A, a four-seater with a mixed wood and steel-tube construction with fabric covering. The aircraft was built in a number of variants fitted with different engines. [1] The prototype (Model AC) first flew in 1927 and the first production aircraft appeared in the following year. [2]
