SchoolArts is a magazine written by and for K–12 art educators. It is produced by Davis Publications, a family-owned publisher of pre-K–12 art curriculum. The publisher and president, Julian Davis Wade, is a fifth-generation member of the Davis family, who has published the magazine continuously since its origin in 1901.
As public schooling began to grow nationwide, so did subjective interest in art instruction. In the 1870's, some states began to provide funds to their public schools in pursuit of developing art curriculum. Around this time, art materials, like paint and paper, began to improve in quality, allowing art instruction to expand beyond classic methods.

Pittsburgh Creative and Performing Arts 6–12 (CAPA) is a magnet school located in the Cultural District of Downtown Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. CAPA is one of four 6th to 12th grade schools in the Pittsburgh Public Schools. It was formed from a merger between CAPA High School and Rogers CAPA Middle School.
