The Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa functions under the provisions of the Constitution of Pakistan (1973). The Province has a Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly with 145 elected members, constituent of 115 Regular seats, 26 seats reserved for women and 4 seats for non-Muslims.
The Cabinet of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is the principal executive organ of the Government of the Pakistani province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.It is composed of senior government officials chosen and led by the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
In 1901 the North West Frontier Province (now Khyber Pakhtunkhwa) was declared as a Chief Commissioner's Province separating it from the Punjab and thirty-one years later in 1932 its status was raised to a Governor's Province and the NORTH WEST FRONTIER PROVINCE (then NWFP) Legislative Assembly was formed.
The department was created on August 14, 1973. This department's main purpose is to create jobs, promote Excise and Taxation growth, encourage sustainable development and improve standards of living for all citizens of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
