To manage and recover your account if you forget your password or username, make sure you have access to the recovery phone number or alternate email address you've added to your AOL account. Reset a forgotten password. Use Sign-in Helper, AOL's password reset and account recovery tool, to get back in to your account. Go to the Sign-in Helper.
Click the Account Settings icon. Click Manage Profiles. Click the Email Accounts button. Look for the email account you want to update and double-click on it. Remove and re-enter your AOL Mail password. (Note: If you use an app password for Outlook, you may need to create a new app password. See the info below.) Check the status.

If you want to use the email app that comes with your iOS device, just add your AOL Mail account through your device's settings. Though you should be able to set up the account automatically, you may need to set up the account manually with the POP or IMAP settings.

Customer care can’t override this process of determining App Password creation eligibility. Sign in to your AOL Account Security page. Click Generate app password or Generate and manage app passwords. Click Get Started. Enter your app's name in the text field. Click Generate password. Use the one-time password to log in to your 3rd party app .
