Solosmasthana are 16 sacred places in Sri Lanka, believed by Buddhists to have been hallowed by visits of Gautama Buddha. [1] These places of worship are among the most important religious locations in Sri Lanka, and are located throughout the country. [2]
A local Hakka miner, millionaire Yau Tet Shin, started developing a large tract of the town in the early 1930s, today known as the "New Town", from the eastern bank of the Kinta River to Greentown. The site is known as the place where Lord Buddha came during his second visit to Sri Lanka, after five years of attaining Enlightenment, to intervene and mediate in settling a dispute between two Naga Kings, Chulodara and Mahodara over the possession of a gem-studded throne.
The rock fortress complex of Yapahuwa is situated in the North Western Province, Sri Lanka. It is located approximately between southeast of Mahawa midway Kurunegala and Anuradhapura. The original name of this Buddhist Heritage was Yapawwa but now it is called as Yapahuwa, which is a kind of distortion of its genuine etymological sense.
The cave which now became the temple gateway was founded by a monk from China in 1890 who walked through the area from Ipoh. [1] The monk then decided to make the cave his home and a place for meditation where he remained until the end of his life. This was then continued by other monks and nuns. A temple was then constructed in the 1950s. [1] [2]
Rajagala (The Monarch's Rock), commonly Rassaagala or Rajagalathenna, is a rugged and heavily forested mountain situated 1,038 feet (316 m) above sea level, in a sparsely populated part of Eastern Province, Sri Lanka which has an important archaeological value.
And so the city of Ipoh began to gain fame. Most of these companies have set up their headquarters very close to Ipoh Little India. In 1902 famous banks like 'Chartered Bank' of India, 'Australia-China Company' started their offices in Ipoh. They set up their offices on the same Jalan Sultan Yussuf road where Ipoh Little India is located.
