Brown Cliffs North (13,204 ft (4,025 m)) is located in the northern Wind River Range in the U.S. state of Wyoming. [2] Brown Cliffs North is the 18th tallest peak in Wyoming. [3]
The peak is located on the Continental Divide and is the second highest peak in the remote Wind River Range after Gannett Peak.The east flank of the peak is in the Fitzpatrick Wilderness of Shoshone National Forest, while the west side is in the Bridger Wilderness of Bridger-Teton National Forest.
About 52% of the wilderness area is in Alaska, with 57,425,569 acres (89,727.452 sq mi; 232,393.03 km 2) of wilderness. They are located in 44 states (excepting Connecticut, Delaware, Iowa, Kansas, Maryland, and Rhode Island) and Puerto Rico. The NPS has oversight of 43,890,500 acres (68,578.9 sq mi; 177,619 km 2) of wilderness at 61 locations.
It is set in the Fitzpatrick Wilderness, on land managed by Shoshone National Forest. Neighbors include Downs Mountain, 1.4 mile to the southwest, and Torrey Peak 2.4 miles to the northeast. Topographic relief is significant as the east aspect rises 1,700 feet (520 meters) above Turquoise Lake in one-half mile.
The glacier is located in the Fitzpatrick Wilderness of Shoshone National Forest, and is among the largest grouping of glaciers in the American Rocky Mountains. Sacagawea Glacier flows to the east, from a northeast facing cirque , starting near the summit of Mount Sacagawea .
