Sherwood Lake is a lake in Berrien County, in the U.S. state of Michigan. [1] It has a size of 12.124 acres (4.906 ha). [2] Sherwood Lake has the name of Harvey C. Sherwood, a settler at the lake. [3]
The golf course has four distinct sections, as noted on the scorecard. [6] The first six holes are inland holes; holes 7, 8, and 9 play through dunes, as they are the closest holes to Lake Michigan. The first four holes on the back nine are woodlands holes; and holes 14-18 are river holes, playing on or near the Paw Paw River.
The club became very popular, hosting the Michigan Open in 1928, and even saw the construction of an airstrip. In 1930 the club hosted the Western Open, one of the most prestigious golf events of the time. In 1948 and 1949 it was site of the Michigan PGA Championship, won by Horton Smith and Chick Harbert, respectively.
TPC Michigan is a private golf club located in Dearborn, Michigan and owned by ClubCorp. The Jack Nicklaus designed championship golf course is a member of the Tournament Players Club network, which is operated by the PGA Tour. In 2007, the facility was sold to the Heritage Golf Group, but retained its TPC branding under a licensing agreement. [1]
