Turtle Wax, Inc. (known simply as Turtle Wax) is an American manufacturer of automotive appearance products. The company was founded by Benjamin Hirsch in Chicago in 1941 [ 2 ] and is currently headquartered in Lombard, Illinois , having relocated from Addison, Illinois in 2024.
Minwax was founded in 1904 by Arthur B Harrison. Harrison persuaded his employer at Clifford I. Miller to manufacture a line of waterproofing materials, and later bought the line in 1910, [2] which he then named Minwax®. [3]
In 1965 Morton International purchased the controlling interest in Simoniz Company, adding Master Wax-Detergent Proof and Smooth-Pre Softened products to the line. In 1976, Simoniz was acquired by Union Carbide. It introduced such products as Shines Like the Sun, Super Poly, Body Guard, Double Wax, Simoniz II, Shine Booster and Super Blue.
