Secured cards require a security deposit. Chimes credit builder is a secured card since you load money onto it first before spending. Same concept here sort of. You deposit money and that’s your credit limit. Difference is you are still responsible to pay the credit card bill each month with other banks.

I believe that it's well worth it. Free to sign up so you don't lose anything, and if you use it often to pay for bills and shopping, you will see your credit score rise slowly. I've had it for a few years, and my score has gone up nearly 150 points with constant use. I would say hell yes.

Y'all it's simple. It's literally like a debit card...you transfer money (I put my whole paycheck in) and chime just reports it for you. Not that hard lol. I think where the confusion came about was people thought they were going to get charged basically twice when you were trying to explain it the first time.

  7. Is the Chime Credit Builder Visa Card Legit or a Gimmick / Scam?

    www.reddit.com/r/CRedit/comments/kh4l53/is_the_chime_credit_builder_visa_card...

Chime actually holds that money in a secure account for you, and chime charges the purchase as credit, and at the end of the month (assuming you leave the smart credit building setting turned on) chime takes the money it was holding in the secure account and pays your whole balance. So you show utilization, potentially a very high credit limit ...

Ive only been using the credit builder card for about the last 6 months of that. So I can't guarantee what did what. All I know is when I started two years ago I was at 520. Now I'm at 660 and finally can get more than a secured credit card.I didn't really keep track of the score until recently so I don't know for sure what kicked it up most.

If it is bad, your best bet is to just focus on paying/settling delinquencies and getting current on any open accounts. If you don't do that there is nothing that will help and new credit will have little impact. If it is an issue of no credit, I would stick to the larger companies like Capital One or Discover secured card.

My two cents on the best credit card for actual beginners is the Chime Secured Credit Builder Visa. There's no annual fee and it accepts scores from 300-640, which is perfect if you're just starting or rebuilding credit. It reports to multiple bureaus, has no foreign transaction fees, and you can lock the card anytime. Is anyone else using this ...
