ACF Fiorentina, [1] [2] commonly referred to as Fiorentina (pronounced [fjorenˈtiːna]), is an Italian professional football club based in Florence, Tuscany. The original team was founded by a merger in August 1926, while the current club was refounded in August 2002 following bankruptcy.
In the 1992–93 season, after a 55-year spell in the top division, Fiorentina were relegated to Serie B, despite Gabriel Batistuta's 16 league goals.
