The Sony NEX-6 is a digital camera announced on 12 September 2012. [2] It is a mirrorless interchangeable lens camera or MILC, and thus has a smaller body form factor than a traditional DSLR, whilst retaining the sensor size and features of an APS-C-sized model. It is targeted at experienced users, enthusiasts and professionals.

There were quite a few NEX models out there, when Sony decided to melt the NEX series into the Alpha series. The first Alpha MILC was the α3000, which was introduced in August 2013. It was followed by the Full-Frame α7 and α7R in October, then the successors of the NEX-5, the NEX-6 and NEX-7, the α5000 and the α6000 in 2014.
Sony NEX-5 E-mount. The E-mount is a lens mount designed by Sony for their NEX ("New E-mount eXperience" [1]) and ILCE series of camcorders and mirrorless cameras. [2] The E-mount supplements Sony's α mount, allowing the company to develop more compact imaging devices while maintaining compatibility with 35mm sensors.
The Sony α6000 was released one and a half year later, and has a slightly different shaped body than the NEX-6. The α6000's body silhouette is almost like a perfect rectangle.
