Kane is a borough in McKean County in the U.S. state of Pennsylvania, 94 miles (151 km) east by southeast of Erie.It was founded in 1864 by Civil War General Thomas L. Kane of the famous Bucktail Regiment at an elevated site 2210 feet (674 m) above sea level.
McKeesport, then part of Versailles Township, began to grow in 1830 when mining of the large deposits of bituminous coal in the region began. The first schoolhouse was built in 1832, with James E. Huey as its schoolmaster. [citation needed] McKeesport was incorporated as a borough in 1842, and the city's first steel mill was established in 1851.

The McKeesport Area School District operates two elementary schools; Francis McClure and Twin Rivers, one middle school; Founder's Hall and one high school; the McKeesport Area High School. The district also operates the McKeesport Area Technology Center, which provides career and technical education programs to 10th, 11th, and 12th grade students.
The Kane Wolves won the Allegheny Mountain League football championship in November, 2007 and were 10-0 for the season. It was the first 10-win season in Kane history. The team's football coach—Jason Barner—was named AML Coach-of-the-Year. [7] Kane's first undefeated football team completed the 1963 season a perfect 9–0. [citation needed]
