Manchester-by-the-Sea (also known simply as Manchester, its name prior to 1990) is a coastal town on Cape Ann, in Essex County, Massachusetts, United States. The town is known for scenic beaches and vista points. According to the 2020 population census, the population is 5,395. [1]
The Manchester Village Historic District encompasses the village center of the seaside town of Manchester-by-the-Sea, Massachusetts (formerly known as Manchester). Kragsyde (1883–85 – 1929) was a Shingle style mansion designed by the Boston architectural firm of Peabody & Stearns and built at Manchester-by-the-Sea, Massachusetts. Although long demolished, it is considered an icon of American architecture.
The reservation is located on Coolidge Point, a peninsula once owned by—and named for—the Coolidge family. The reservation property includes the former site of the Coolidge's "Marble Palace", a Georgian-style mansion designed in 1902 by Charles McKim for T. Jefferson Coolidge, who was a great-grandson of Thomas Jefferson. [1]
