Pinos Altos Railroad. The Pinos Altos Historic District is a historic district which was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1984. It includes 37 contributing buildings on 72 hectares (180 acres). [1] It is roughly bounded by Gold Ave. and Cherry, Main, Church, and Silver Streets. It was a gold camp in the 1800s.
The community was a mining town, formed in 1860 following the discovery of gold in the nearby Pinos Altos Mountains. The town site is located about five to ten miles north of the present day Silver City. Although once abandoned, the town is now a place for summer homes and caters to tourists. Its population was 198 as of the 2010 census. [4]

The John Palmer House is located in a rural setting of northern Lisbon, on the west side of North Burnham Highway (Connecticut Route 169) at its junction with Ross Hill Road. The house is set on 38 acres (15 ha) of land, and is set back a modest distance from the road, from which it separated by a stone wall and mature trees.
