I'm in Canada, and all the measuring cups in the kitchen show 250 mL on a metric scale on one side, and 8 oz. on a presumably US customary scale on the other side. When filled to 8 oz., the level is short of the 250 mL mark, I suppose at 237 mL if the scales are agreeing with the conversion math.
