Quartz Lake is a mid-sized lake about 10 mi (16 km) north of Delta Junction, Alaska.It was named Quartz Lake by early mineral prospectors in the area. [1] Much of the lake shore is private property but the Quartz Lake State Recreation Area is also located on the lake via a short access road from the Richardson Highway.
From the eastern part of the Kiwalik River basin, the streams emanating from the east are the Quartz and Hunter creeks. Quartz Creek, with a larger catchment (rugged and hilly on the eastern and southern borders of the basin) joins the Kiwalik River, about 6 miles (9.7 km) above the mouth of Glacier Creek.
Quartz Lake is located in Glacier National Park, in the U. S. state of Montana. Quartz Lake is only 150 yards (140 m) east of Middle Quartz Lake. [2] Quartz Lake is a 6 miles (9.7 km) hike from the Bowman Lake Picnic Area. [3] The historic Quartz Lake Patrol Cabin is on the western shore of Quartz Lake.
Quartzville Creek is a 28-mile (45 km) tributary of the Middle Santiam River in Linn County in the U.S. state of Oregon. [4] It is paralleled by the Quartzville Back Country Byway and used for recreation, including camping, fishing, hunting, kayaking, and gold panning. [6]
The McHugh Creek Day use area features hiking trails and picnic areas. [28] The Bird Creek Campground is located south of Anchorage off the Seward Highway. Prospect Creek is a very small settlement approximately 180 miles (290 km) north of present-day Fairbanks and 25 miles (40 km) southeast of present-day Bettles, Alaska. Years ago it was home to numerous mining expeditions and the camp for the building of the Trans-Alaska Pipeline System (TAPS).
At Parlin, Quartz Creek flows from Pitkin and Ohio into Tomichi Creek. Tomichi continues its westward journey, slightly northwest, where the Cochetopa Creek [ 6 ] drains into Tomichi at State Highway 114 (SH 114) from the south at the intersection of U.S. Route 50 (US 50) and continues west to Gunnison , where it enters the Gunnison River.
