A contractor died Tuesday at a local hospital following an accident at a Columbus recycling site owned by Rumpke Waste and Recycling Services, according to a company statement.
Feb. 18—An employee Rumpke died Tuesday morning while working in a neighborhood near Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, representatives of the waste collection company and the base confirmed Thursday.
The Rumpke Landfill was started in 1945 and has expanded today to occupy over 230 acres (0.93 km 2) of land. [1] As of 2010, Rumpke may still be considered a family operation with over 70 employees being part of the family.
