The Tilton Downtown Historic District encompasses a roughly one-block section of Main Street (United States Route 3) in the center of Tilton, New Hampshire.It extends from Central Street in the west to Bridge and School Streets in the east, including all of the buildings on the north side of this section, and a cluster of buildings on the south side near Bridge Street.
In Tilton, it extends from the Franklin city line in the west to Interstate 93 in the east, and north to Clark Road, Colby Road, and just south of Aster Drive. The Northfield part of the CDP is bordered by I-93 to the east; the Winnipesaukee River, Williams Brook and Zion Hill Road to the west; and Forrest Road to the south. [4]

New Hampshire Route 140 is a 21.142-mile-long (34.025 km) east–west state highway in central New Hampshire, running from Tilton to Alton.The western terminus of NH 140 is in Tilton at an intersection with U.S. Route 3, New Hampshire Route 11 and New Hampshire Route 132, located at exit 20 on Interstate 93.
NH 132 parallels I-93 as a local road, connecting Tilton to the south with New Hampton and Ashland to the north. NH 127 intersects NH 132 in the village of Gaza within Sanbornton and leads southwest to Franklin. U.S. Route 3 crosses a very small southeastern corner of Sanbornton at the village of Winnisquam, where the road crosses Lake Winnisquam.
