The first four episodes were released to DVD on March 21, 2017, [3] two days after the TV-premiere. On March 2, 2017, Nickelodeon announced that season five would be the show's final season. [4] It was renamed Tales of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles for this last season, and its opening titles were changed. [5]
On October 21, 2009, a press release was made indicating that Viacom had bought the complete rights of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles franchise from Peter Laird for $60 million. Viacom would be developing a CGI animated TV series for its Nickelodeon family of channels for broadcast in 2012.
In the first half of the third season, after the events of previous season, the turtles are recuperating at O'Neil's farmhouse. While dealing with multiple mutants, they also find a Kraang clone in the likeness of April's mother, leading them to realize that she possesses psychological abilities because the Kraang experimented on her mother when she was pregnant.
On October 2, 2012, Nickelodeon ordered a second season of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. [1] [2]Executive producer Ciro Nieli confirmed that Mutagen Man will have a large role in the second season and an hour-long episode featuring the voice actors of the original TMNT series (Cam Clarke, Townsend Coleman, Barry Gordon, and Rob Paulsen) in their respective roles for a cameo.
