Ellsworth Place is a 350,000-square-foot (33,000 m 2), six-story, enclosed vertical power center in downtown Silver Spring, Maryland. It opened as City Place Mall on April 2, 1992, [ 1 ] [ 2 ] and is located at the intersection of Fenton Street and Colesville Road ( U.S. Route 29 ).

On August 14, 2012, the city of Laurel hosted a groundbreaking ceremony to begin destruction of the former Laurel Mall. [1] As of October 12, 2012, all of the parking garage on the U.S. Route 1 side of the mall had been demolished, and interior demolition of the mall had begun.
