The Australian Mathematical Olympiad (AMO) is held annually in the second week of February. It is composed of two four-hour papers held over two consecutive days. There are four questions in each exam for a total of eight questions. Entry is by invitation only, with approximately 200 candidates per year from Australia and New Zealand.
For students at the Junior and Inter levels from Tamil Nadu, the NMTC also plays the role of Regional Mathematical Olympiad. Although the question papers are different for Junior and Inter levels, students from both levels may be chosen to appear at INMO based on their performance. The NMTC is usually held around the last week of October.
