To harness the power output, BMW gave the S1000R a package of electronics suite of rider aids, including ABS Pro (cornering ABS), Dynamic Traction Control (DTC), Dynamic Traction Control Wheelie Function, Shift Assistant Pro (which allows for clutch-less up and downshifts), Hill Start Control (HSC), Launch Control and Pit Lane Limiter.
The optional DTC (Dynamic Traction Control) was updated, smoothing the butterfly valve action when a wheelie was detected, providing a less violent response to the bike's front wheel lifting off the ground. The chassis was updated; the front suspension was lifted by 4 mm (0.2 in) and the rear was lowered by 5 mm (0.2 in).
The chassis is complemented by traction control (Dynamic Traction Control, DTC) and Pro driving modes with driving mode preselection. On request, a semi-active chassis with automatic level control to adapt to the load condition is available. [5] The R1250RS is equipped with two LED headlights [6] and a 6.5-inch TFT display.
Electronic limited slip differential (EDLC - Electronic Differential Lock Control). This is infinitely variable between 0% and 50%, as opposed to the permanent 30% of the optional LSD fitted to the R56 MINI Cooper S. DTC (Dynamic Traction Control) as fitted as standard on all current BMW models. The John Cooper Works is the first variant of the ...
By 2009, traction control was an option for several models offered by BMW and Ducati, the model year 2010 Kawasaki Concours 14 (1400GTR) and Honda CBR 650R in the year 2019, and Triumph "Modern Classic" line of motorcycles. In off-road vehicles: Traction control is used instead of or in addition to, the mechanical limited-slip or locking ...
Electronic stability control (ESC), also referred to as electronic stability program (ESP) or dynamic stability control (DSC), is a computerized technology [1] [2] that improves a vehicle's stability by detecting and reducing loss of traction . [3]
Loosely based on the John Cooper Works (JCW) Challenge car, these are essentially Cooper S vehicles with a higher-output engine; a low-back-pressure exhaust system; a stiffer sport suspension; 17-inch light alloy rims with low-profile, performance tyres; Brembo performance brakes; and BMW's dynamic stability control (DSC) and Dynamic Traction ...
An upgraded version of xDrive with torque vectoring, called 'Dynamic Performance Control' (DPC), was introduced on the 2008 BMW X6 and has since become available on other vehicles including the BMW X5 M. [12] [13] As per most torque vectoring systems, the primary function is to increase agility in cornering. [14]
