The Dodge Viper (SR I) is the first-generation Viper sports car, manufactured by American automobile manufacturer Dodge. It was originally tested in January 1989 as a prototype, then later introduced in 1991 as a pace car for the Indianapolis 500 , then finally going on sale in January 1992.

1998 Dodge Viper GTS. The 1996 model year marked as the start of production for the second-generation Viper, codenamed the SR II. The car was essentially an updated version of the first-generation Viper, since most of its parts were carried over to this generation.
The third-generation Dodge Viper was redesigned, courtesy of Osamu Shikado from Dodge's performance division, Street & Racing Technology.
