Cross-validation is the process of assessing how the results of a statistical analysis will generalize to an independent data set. If the model has been estimated over some, but not all, of the available data, then the model using the estimated parameters can be used to predict the held-back data.
Previously when assessing a dataset before running a linear regression, the possibility of outliers would be assessed using histograms and scatterplots. Both methods of assessing data points were subjective and there was little way of knowing how much leverage each potential outlier had on the results data.
First, regression analysis is widely used for prediction and forecasting, where its use has substantial overlap with the field of machine learning. Second, in some situations regression analysis can be used to infer causal relationships between the independent and dependent variables. Importantly, regressions by themselves only reveal ...
Includes techniques for fixed and random effects analysis, fixed and mixed effects meta-regression, forest and funnel plots, tests for funnel plot asymmetry, trim-and-fill and fail-safe N analysis. Network: Explore the connections between variables organised as a network. Network Analysis allows the user to analyze the network structure.
Segmented regression, also known as piecewise regression or broken-stick regression, is a method in regression analysis in which the independent variable is partitioned into intervals and a separate line segment is fit to each interval. Segmented regression analysis can also be performed on multivariate data by partitioning the various ...
Statistical analysis using logistic regression of Grade on GPA, Tuce and Psi was conducted in SPSS using Stepwise Logistic Regression. In the output, the "block" line relates to Chi-Square test on the set of independent variables that are tested and included in the model fitting.
Moderation analysis in the behavioral sciences involves the use of linear multiple regression analysis or causal modelling. [1] To quantify the effect of a moderating variable in multiple regression analyses, regressing random variable Y on X , an additional term is added to the model.
IDA (Interactive Data Analysis) [25] was a software package that originated at what was formerly the National Opinion Research Center , at the University of Chicago. Initially offered on the HP-2000, [26] somewhat later, under the ownership of SPSS, it was also available on MUSIC/SP. [27] Regression analysis was one of IDA's strong points. [26]
