North Lakes Academy (NLA) is a charter school located in Forest Lake, Minnesota, United States. It serves students in grades K–12 from Forest Lake and surrounding areas. Established in 1999, NLA currently educates approximately 400 students with class sizes averaging 22 students.
The school was opened in 2001, with only year 8. Year levels increased each year with the first cohort of year 12 students finishing their secondary education in 2005. FLSHS is an enrolment-managed school which means students, and their parents, must live in the school's catchment area to be eligible for enrolment.
The first one-room school was built that year at the former location of city hall (220 N. Lake Street). The city of Forest Lake was incorporated on July 11, 1893 with 175 residents. In 2001, the city annexed the surrounding former Forest Lake Township.
