[1] It houses more than 10 million volumes, including over 1,134,000 foreign-language books and some of the National Treasures of South Korea.

It is the largest humanities and social sciences library in the country, and functions as both a parliamentary and public library. It manages and preserves the records of the National Assembly.
The first edition of the classification was published in 1964; the most recent edition is the sixth edition published in 2013. Almost all school and public libraries in South Korea use the KDC to organize their collections, as well as the National Library of Korea and some university libraries.
