Strawberry Reservoir contains four major fishing areas. The largest, at 64 percent of the reservoir's volume, is the Strawberry Basin, which includes the original 8,400-acre (34 km 2) Reservoir. The Meadows, located at the southern end of the reservoir south of the Indian Creek Dike, fills a valley of the lower Indian Creek Drainage.
The river flows south into Strawberry Reservoir, then through Soldier Creek Dam. The first 8 miles (13 km) below Soldier Creek Dam is owned by the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation, and is one of Utah's most productive brown and cutthroat trout fisheries, and was one of the first waters in Utah to be designated a Quality Fishing Stream. Strawberry is an unincorporated community in western Duchesne County, Utah, United States. [ 1 ] [ 2 ] Most of the inhabitants live along the Strawberry River between the Strawberry River pinnacles and Starvation Reservoir west of the city of Duchesne , the county seat of Duchesne County.
The reservoir it creates, Pinecrest Lake, has a normal water surface of 300 acres (120 ha) and has a normal capacity of 18,312 acre-feet (22,588,000 m 3). [3] Recreation includes boating, fishing, camping, and winter sports. [4] Pinecrest Lake hosts the Pinecrest Recreation Area, part of the Stanislaus National Forest. [5]
