The AMD Optimizing C/C++ Compiler (AOCC) is an optimizing C/C++ and Fortran compiler suite from AMD targeting 32-bit and 64-bit Linux platforms. [1] [2] It is a proprietary fork of LLVM + Clang with various additional patches to improve performance for AMD's Zen microarchitecture in Epyc, and Ryzen microprocessors.
Typically in server platforms, CPUs are the PECI slaves and Platform Controller Hub (PCH) is the PECI master, meanwhile in client segment, CPU is usually the PECI slave and EC/BMC is the PECI master. PECI was introduced in 2006 with the Intel Core 2 Duo microprocessors. Support for PECI was added to the Linux kernel version 5.18 in 2022. [1]
It is also helpful to use large pages in the host page tables to reduce the number of levels (e.g., in x86-64, using 2 MB pages removes one level in the page table). Since memory is typically allocated to virtual machines at coarse granularity, using large pages for guest-physical translation is an obvious optimization, reducing the depth of ...
Linux System software package for correlated tracing of kernel, applications and libraries. GPL/LGPL/MIT OProfile: Linux Profiles everything running on the Linux system, including hard-to-profile programs such as interrupt handlers and the kernel itself. Sampling profiler for Linux that counts cache misses, stalls, memory fetches, etc.
raises software interrupt 5 if test fails ENTER: C8 iw ib: Enter stack frame: Modifies stack for entry to procedure for high level language. Takes two operands: the amount of storage to be allocated on the stack and the nesting level of the procedure. INSB/INSW: 6C Input from port to string. May be used with a REP prefix to repeat the ...
Below is a list of microarchitectures many of which have codenames associated: [2] AMD K5 – AMD's first original x86 microarchitecture. The K5 was based on the AMD 29k microarchitecture with the addition of an x86 decoder. Although the design was similar in idea to a Pentium Pro, the actual performance was more like that of a Pentium.
