The 200-acre (0.81 km 2) campus at Beechwood, just off the A9 south of Inverness, is considered to be one of the most important developments for the region over the next 20 years. The college opened in 1959 and became an independent entity in 1993. In July 2014, the college had 8,000 students enrolled in full-time and part-time courses, [1] including more than 750 studying for university degrees.
