Ascendance of a Bookworm is an anime series based on a light novel and manga series written by Miya Kazuki and illustrated by Yō Shiina. The series is animated by Ajia-do Animation Works and directed by Mitsuru Hongo, with Mariko Kunisawa handling series composition, Yoshiaki Yanagida and Toshihisa Kaiya designing the characters, and Michiru composing the series' music. The second part ran for 12 episodes, which aired from April 5 to June 21, 2020, and covers Volumes 1 and 2 of Part 2: Apprentice Shrine Maiden of the light novel. From 2013 onwards, she started publishing her novel Ascendance of a Bookworm on the user-generated novel publishing website Shōsetsuka ni Narō which saw success. In 2015, she officially debuted with said series under the T.O. Books imprint.
She did work on the illustrations for the Ascendance of a Bookworm series by Miya Kazuki. She received the Dengeki Game Illustration Gold Award in 1998, and her cover art for the "Ascendance of a Bookworm" earned the Kono Light Novel ga Sugoi! award in 2018 and 2019.
