    Now you've published this tutorial I have been able to add PCI Express to my power management options and to switch off PCI Express power management when the laptop is plugged in. This seems to have solved my problem, which I believe Intel have acknowledged is caused by a bug in PCI Express. I only wish this tutorial had been published a year ago.

    I only have 2 power plans:-'Balanced'-'Asus Recommended' However, when I goto advanced power options, I only have 4 available settings: Background, Sleep, Display, and Battery (see pic) I am missing all of the following: Processor power management-Min processor state -Max processor state-USB Selective Suspend-Link Management-Etc etc etc etc
