It feels like an autoimmune thing. Your body just wakes up early, you're exhausted and have no idea why and what's happening to you. I've had this recently. Yesterday it happened to me again, woke up in the middle of the night after 3.5 hours of sleep. I ended up watching a YouTube video about this problem.
Prior to that, in a primarily agrarian society, getting up in the middle of the night for a couple hours to do chores or shoot the breeze with your neighbors was totally normal, as was a "siesta" in the afternoon during the hottest part of the day.
Waking up too early, makes me groggy all day I go to sleep at 10:30pm, and ideally I’d like to wake up at 6am, which is when my alarm is set. But I often wake up too early at 5am, resulting in feeling like crap and groggy, and usually I feel groggy for the rest of the day.
I typically go to bed around 11 and aim to get up at 7. So perhaps going to bed around 1am might help me sleep throughout the night. I saw a sleep specialist years ago and sleep restriction therapy was the approach they used to try and fix me sleep. So I am wondering if anybody here has employed a strategy like this to try and fix waking up too ...
Melatonin’s half-life is only 4 hours. It’s used to get you into sleep. You have to take something with a longer half life to keep you asleep. I take 20mg and I still wake up in 4-5 hours. They make XR melatonin. I have noticed it too. When I take it, I wake up earlier than usual and also feel tired.
Now, if they wake up super early and are bored, rather than waiting or going back to sleep, they decide to whine. The best way to combat this, I think (take this with a grain of salt), is to not let them out until 7:30. You can get up and calm them down if they are whining, but don't reward them for the behavior. 2.
The only advice I can give is hit the weights as regularly as you can, go to bed early, and if you do prematurely wake up, do something for like 15 to 30 minutes, like strolling a bit, reading, and then try and go back to sleep while distracting yourself with a short Youtube video in the background at low volume. 2. But I am consistently waking up way earlier than I need to (2-4 hours) due to feelings of general anxiety (not even a specific work issue or project) and unable to get back to sleep. I’ll typically toss in bed and try to rest as best as I can but don’t really get back to sleep. I have tried increasing my exercise during the day to help feel ...
Alarm rings for 5:30. If I wake up @ 4am, (which happens) get up, do normal morning routine. Go to bed regular time 8:30-9:00. This time you will be more tired, forcing your body to sleep longer. Wake up (hopefully) at desired alarm time. Your sleep goal should be around 8 hours give or take an hour.
Try setting a very consistent wake time without sleeping in or napping. That will reset your body clock over the course of a few weeks. Then methodically adjust bedtime until you find a sweet spot for both better consolidated sleep and feeling good the next day. 2. Reply.
