Suffolk County (/ ˈ s ʌ f ə k / SUF-ək) is the easternmost county in the U.S. state of New York, constituting the eastern two-thirds of Long Island.It is bordered to its west by Nassau County, to its east by Gardiners Bay and the open Atlantic Ocean, to its north by Long Island Sound, and to its south by the Atlantic Ocean.
Nassau County and Suffolk County each have their own governments, with a county executive leading each. Each has a county legislature as well as other countywide-elected officials, such as district attorney, county clerk and county comptroller. The towns in both counties have their own governments as well, with town supervisors and a town council.
The 2nd district is based on the South Shore of Suffolk County, including the towns of Babylon, Islip, and most of Brookhaven all in Suffolk County, and Massapequa in Nassau County. The incumbent is Republican Andrew Garbarino, who was re-elected with 60.73% of the vote in 2022. [9]

Steven A. Levy [2] (pronounced LEE-vee; born August 25, 1959) is an American politician and lawyer who served as the seventh County Executive of Suffolk County, New York, elected on November 4, 2003. Originally a fiscally conservative Democrat , Levy joined the Republican Party in an unsuccessful bid for the Republican nomination for governor .
With over 240,000 votes cast, Bellone was elected with 57% of the vote in 2011 in his bid for Suffolk County Executive. [8] [9] As County Executive, Bellone has focused on restoring structural financial balance, implementing government reforms, improving water quality, and ensuring a high quality of life for Suffolk County residents.
