Ratón Pass is a 7,834 ft (2,388 m) elevation mountain pass on the Colorado–New Mexico border in the western United States.It is located on the eastern side of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains between Trinidad, Colorado and Raton, New Mexico, approximately 180 miles (290 km) northeast of Santa Fe.
In 1933, US 64 had been extended to end at US 85 in Santa Fe, New Mexico, replacing all of the previously designated US 485 between Raton and Santa Fe, through Taos. [ 5 ] [ 3 ] On November 11, 1972, US 64 was truncated from Santa Fe to Taos, then extended west through Tres Piedras , Brazos , Monero and Bloomfield to US 550 in Farmington . [ 6 ]
