William Garfit (9 November 1840 – 29 October 1920) [1] was an English banker and Conservative Party politician from the town of Boston in Lincolnshire. He held several local offices in Lincolnshire, and sat in the House of Commons from 1895 to 1906.

He became chief executive of Barclays four years later, in 1994, remaining there until 1998. He joined the board at retail chain W H Smith in 1999, eventually becoming chief executive before departing in 2003.
