Nicholas Earnest managed Elmwood until his death in 1956, when it was divided among his six children. His daughter, Katherine Earnest Clemmer, then purchased her siblings' share of the farm. [2] Elmwood is the only farm in the district that remains in the hands of Earnest descendants, and in 2002 was designated a Tennessee Century Farm.

The Holliston Mills site, a Mississippian town in Upper East Tennessee, is located on the north bank of the Holston River south of Kingsport in Hawkins County, Tennessee. The site was excavated by members of the Tennessee Archaeological Society between 1968 and 1972.

Elmwood Plantation is a former plantation and a historic mansion, located in Rutherford County near Murfreesboro, Tennessee. It was built in the 1840s for Thomas Hord, a lawyer who owned slaves. [2] It was once one of the largest plantation complexes in Middle Tennessee. [2] The mansion was designed in the Classical Revival architectural style. [3]
