WTOC-TV (channel 11) is a television station in Savannah, Georgia, United States, affiliated with CBS and owned by Gray Media. The station's studios are located off Chatham Center Drive in Savannah's Chatham Parkway section, and its transmitter is located along Fort Argyle Road/ SR 204 in unincorporated Chatham County .
WJCL-TV and WJCL-FM (96.5 FM) were both run by Lewis Broadcasting's executive vice president, J. Fred Pierce, from 1972 until the television station's first sale in 1999. Channel 22 dropped the "-TV" suffix from the callsign in 1981. In 1982, WJCL swapped affiliations with WSAV (due to the latter's action) and became an NBC affiliate.
He left WTOC-TV to present the news at WJCL-TV in 1973 when WJCL-TV gained the ability to broadcast in color. WJCL was, at the time, last in the 6 o'clock news ratings . With Weathers on the news desk, it leapt to number 1 and stayed at, or near, the top until WTOC hired Weathers back in 1979.

Sonny Dixon retired in May 2015 as lead anchor of THE News at 5 & 6 and "WTOC PRIME" on WTOC-TV, the CBS affiliate in Savannah, Georgia, USA. He succeeded Doug Weathers, following Weathers' retirement in 2001. [1] Dixon is the only Savannah anchor to win the Best Anchor Emmy Award. He has also won numerous AP Awards and an Edward R.
