The future of 3D printing may depend on the ability print things with properties beyond cheap plastic. We've seen composite materials appear for 3D printers before, but the arrival of MakerBot to ...
MakerBot Industries, LLC was an American desktop 3D printer manufacturer company headquartered in New York City.It was founded in January 2009 by Bre Pettis, Adam Mayer, and Zach "Hoeken" Smith to build on the early progress of the RepRap Project.
Open source printer designs are often popular in online do it yourself-communities. Noise level: Measured in decibels (dB), and can vary greatly in home-printers from 15 dB to 75 dB. [2] Some main sources of noise in filament printers are fans, motors and bearings, while in resin printers the fans usually are responsible for most of the noise. [2]
3D printing, or additive manufacturing, is the construction of a three-dimensional object from a CAD model or a digital 3D model. [1] [2] [3] It can be done in a variety of processes in which material is deposited, joined or solidified under computer control, [4] with the material being added together (such as plastics, liquids or powder grains being fused), typically layer by layer.
The system was announced in 2017 [26] and launched in 2018, consisting of the Metal X printer, Wash-1 debinding station, and Sinter-1 furnace. The Metal X printer has a build volume of 300mm x 220mm x 180mm. Available materials on the Metal X system include 17-4PH stainless steel, tool steels (H13, A2, D2), Inconel 625, and pure Copper. Printing electronics is a major goal of the RepRap project so that it can print its own circuit boards. Several methods have been proposed: Wood's metal or Field's metal : low-melting point metal alloys to incorporate electrical circuits into the part as it is being formed.
