DeWitt [a] is a city in Clinton County, Iowa, United States. The population was 5,514 at the time of the 2020 census , which represented a 9.2% increase over that of 2000 , making it the fastest growing city in Clinton County.
De Witt Township covers an area of 54.48 square miles (141.1 km 2) and contains one incorporated settlement, De Witt. According to the USGS, it contains two cemeteries: Elmwood and Saint Joseph. Crystal Lake is within this township. The streams of Ames Creek, Crystal Creek, Rock Creek and Silver Creek run through this township.

The Iowa 561 freeway was dedicated and opened to traffic on December 1, 1982. [63] After the new highway opened, there remained two segments of the old road–a short section between I-80 and Mount Joy and a longer stretch from Mount Joy to De Witt.
