Live in San Diego [1] (alternatively known as Live in San Diego with special guest JJ Cale) [2] is the thirteenth live album (and a live DVD) by British rock musician Eric Clapton. It was released through Reprise Records as a live album on 30 September 2016 [ 3 ] and as a 2-hour live DVD on 10 March 2017.
According to RIAA, he has sold 40 million certified albums in the United States (including one diamond, seven multi-platinum and 23 gold records). [2] According to Billboard , Clapton is the 38th Greatest Artist of all time in their chart history, as well as the 38th Greatest Mainstream Rock Artist of all time. [ 3 ]

Escondido is a city in San Diego County near Cale's home at the time located in the small, unincorporated town of Valley Center, California. Eric Clapton owned a mansion in Escondido in the 1980s and early '90s. The road referenced in the album's title is named Valley Center Road. It runs from Valley Center to Escondido.
Cale recorded the song and then released it in 1966 as a single with its flipside track "Slow Motion". [3] [4] When Eric Clapton was working with Delaney & Bonnie Bramlett, Delaney Bramlett introduced Clapton to the music of J.J. Cale. [5] [6] "After Midnight" was the first of several Cale cover songs released by Clapton and appeared on his self-titled debut album.
