Tales of Dunk and Egg is a series of fantasy novellas by George R. R. Martin, set in the world of his A Song of Ice and Fire novels. After volume 85, the series took a two-and-a-half-year hiatus due to the sale of the Stratemeyer Syndicate to Simon & Schuster. At this point, book packager Mega-Books took over the series, and hired different ghostwriters for the job (many of whom are still unknown). Mega-Books worked on the series until #153 Eye On Crime in 1998.

Pierce originally drafted a single novel aimed at adults, but revised it to a series for young adults after being unable to find a publisher. The series was first written in French and published by Éditions de Mortagne in Québec, and was later sold in France by Michel Lafon and France Loisirs. Since their release, the books have become immensely popular in Quebec, selling millions of copies. [1] The series was later translated to English by its author and distributed digitally.
