The Grenzgipfel is the highest summit on the Italian side of the Monte Rosa massif and the highest point of the entire border between Italy and Switzerland; it is also the culminating point of the Italian region of Piedmont and of the Ticino river drainage basin. The closest locality is Macugnaga, which is located east of the Monte Rosa Massif.
It circles the Mont Blanc massif, covering a distance of roughly 165 kilometres (103 mi) with 10 kilometres (6.2 mi) of ascent/descent and passing through parts of Switzerland, Italy and France. The summit, known as Uto Kulm, is in Stallikon. [5] [1] At the summit, there is the Hotel Uto Kulm, together with two towers. One of these is a look-out tower (access costs CHF 2, [6] rebuilt 1990), whilst the other is the Uetliberg TV-tower (186 m, rebuilt 1990). The summit is easily accessible by train from Zürich.
