This is a list of law enforcement agencies in the state of Ohio.. According to the US Bureau of Justice Statistics' 2008 Census of State and Local Law Enforcement Agencies, the state had 831 law enforcement agencies employing 25,992 sworn police officers, about 225 for each 100,000 residents.
In 2005, the Camden Police Department was operated by the state. [10] In 2011, it was announced that a new county police department would be formed, which would only patrol areas inside the city. [11] For two years, Camden experienced its lowest homicide rate since 2008. Camden also reorganized its police disbandment that same year. [12]
In 2012, the entire city police department was laid off and required to apply for a position with the new county police department. [17] The application process included a 50-page form, psychological testing, and an interview process. [18] Many employees were angry. [17]
The consolidation will "provide a level of service that has long been missing in Woodlynne," said Rodriguez, whose department was formed in May 2103 to replace Camden's municipal police force.
Camden is part of the Preble Shawnee School District. Students attend Camden Elementary (Grades K-3), West Elkton Elementary (4-6), and Preble Shawnee High School (7-12). The district's mascot is the Arrows. Camden has a public library, a branch of the Preble County District Library. [11]
