The 1820 Settlers were several groups of white British colonists the British government and the Cape Colony authorities settled in the Eastern Cape of South Africa in 1820. Some 25 or so ships carried the settlers.

The ship was closed on 28 March 1912. The boys were transferred to the training ship Mount Edgcumbe, [7] which was the renamed HMS Winchester, anchored in the River Tamar at Devonport. Southampton was sold on 26 June 1912 and sent to Blyth to be broken up by the Hughes Bolckow company. [8]
