Crinum calamistratum is an aquatic angiosperm native to Cameroon. [1] It is known by the common names of narrow crinum or African onion plant. [2]The species was first discovered by botanist H. Gregory from a population near Kumba, Cameroon in 1948, and was described by Josef Bogner and Hermann Heino Heine in 1987.
Crinum is a genus of about 180 species of perennial plants that have large showy flowers on leafless stems, and develop from bulbs. They are found in seasonally moist areas, including marshes, swamps, depressions and along the sides of streams and lakes in tropical and subtropical areas worldwide.
