Goiás Esporte Clube is a Brazilian sports club, best known for its association football team, located in the city of Goiânia, capital city of the Brazilian state of Goiás. Goiás has won Brazilian's second tier Série B twice, in 1999 and 2012 , 28 Campeonato Goiano , 3 Copa Centro-Oeste and also its revival, the Copa Verde once in 2023 .
Due to the worsening of the COVID-19 pandemic in Brazil, the Government of Goiás suspended the Campeonato Goiano between 16 and 30 March 2021. The tournament resumed on 31 March 2021, [3] and ended on 23 May 2021. Tied 2–2 on aggregate, Grêmio Anápolis defeated Vila Nova on penalties 5–4 winning the Campeonato Goiano for the first time. [4]

The club was founded on January 20, 1977. [1] They won the Campeonato Goiano (Third Division) in 2003, and the Campeonato Goiano (Second Division) in 2004. Mineiros competed in the Copa do Brasil in 2006, when they were eliminated in the Second Round by Atlético Mineiro after eliminating Americano in the First Round.
