California State University, Monterey Bay (CSUMB or Cal State Monterey Bay) is a public university located in Monterey County, California, United States.The main campus is situated on the site of the former military base Fort Ord, spanning the cities of Seaside and Marina, approximately one mile inland from Monterey Bay along the Central Coast of California.

The California State University Monterey Bay Police Department conducts police services in and around the university campus. Police Administration personnel consist of non-sworn personnel in addition to sworn police officers such as the Chief, Commander, and Patrol Sergeant or Watch Commander.
In 2016, the National Steinbeck Center and California State Monterey Bay completed negotiations for CSUMB to purchase the building. Renovations are continuing on the building, known as CSUMB @ Salinas City Center. The National Steinbeck Center continues to function as a non-profit organization that manages the Museum and affiliated programs. [2]
